Loose Cannon Fire 11 13 10

Harris shutter cannon fire revisitedImage by Thiophene_Guy via Flickr
A few cannon shots from the Voice:

Bluberman was a dufus as a sports caster. So, what requires less intelligence? Liberal political analyst.
Who's he related to that they need to keep him on staff?

Gloria Allred is nothing but a high profile ambulance chasing lawyer. She does not care about justice and has no sense of right or wrong. If she did know the difference between right and wrong she would understand the axiomatic truth that illegal is against the law. she might also understand that stealing someone identity is immoral and illegal.

The only way that businesses come is if the City can somehow counteract the anti business depression by taxation policies of our state legislature.
We could of voted them out, but, we chose more liberal leaders.
Here's hoping against hope.

"Others say they are still clinging to the hope of comprehensive immigration reform, focusing on legalizing those who are here illegally."
Others = left wing liberals
It is not reform it is calling illegal legal, wrong right.
We need immigration enforcement and a President who will protect America.

GW Bush - I saw the interview.
How refreshing to not hear a President man up and not blame everyone else.

Missile? No, no, it is was the cost of insurance under the Obamacare plan.

The POTUS vs. South Korea - First of all when you send a boy to do a mans job...The POTUS is simply demonstrating why he is totally unequipped for his job. He's a socialist!!! What the @#&% does he know about a global capitalistic market? NOTHING!!! All he knows how to do is blame the capitalists, not how to support them.
American needs to produce actual commodities. We can not just be consumers. Americas economic problems are because we do not produce (thanks to government policies that tax the life blood out of businesses) not because we do not consume.

Flush 'em Friday

A flushing toilet.Image via Wikipedia
It's Flush 'em Friday! I really want to know who YOU want to see Flushed out of your city, state and/or country!

This Friday, November 12, 2010, I would like to see the President of these United States and his pathetic attempts at negotiating Flushed right down the old flusher. I mean, he can't even negotiate with South Korea. He did about as good as you can expect from someone who knows nothing of a free market capitalist economy. He has spent the majority of his life pontificating with fellow educational liberals about the need for our great country to follow in the paths of failed socialism and Marxism. President Obama is a liberal. He has Timothy Geithner as Treasury Secretary for Pete's sake!!! What hasn't that pompus clown messed up? Let's flush him too! These are people who believe in more government control and actually think they can control the market. They gave banks and car makers money so banks didn't have to deal with the bad loans they made and car makers...just got bailed out. Flush 'em all!

Now, I want to know who YOU WANT FLUSHED!

Time to Take the Keys Back

The Sleep of Reason Produces Monsters (etching...Image via Wikipedia
When I was 15 years old my dad had a Honda 360 motorcycle. He let me drive it. His rules were to stay off the main streets and highways, and absolutely no racing. So, of course I drove about a mile away, found a long street and checked out how fast that baby could go. When I got home my dad asked me if I enjoyed the ride. I said, "Yes." His reply, "Good, it was your last one." I guess he could hear me a mile away, racing up and down the street.

When I opened up my local fish wrap this morning what do I see on the front page, "Health care price hikes jolt workers." I hate to say, "I told you so!" but, "I TOLD YOU SO!!!"

There was a reason why my dad didn't give me a car at 16. There is a reason why you don't let teenagers drink. There is a reason why you don't let a 7 year old drive the car. There is a reason you go to a dentist to get your teeth cared for and not a bricklayer (and conversely you hire a bricklayer to build your fireplace and not a dentist).

There is also a reason you should NEVER put a Democrat in charge of your money or defense of your country. They simply just don't understand how money works, or as a friend of mine once said, "They just don't know the value of money." Simple question. Did the POTUS and his leftist elite brainless trust put it together that if you force all Americans to purchase a commodity, insurance, that unless you force the sellers of that commodity to limit the cost the cost will obviously skyrocket? @#$* no!!! Democrats have no clue how businesses operate, how economies work, and contrary to their promises while campaigning, they have no conception of how the majority of Americans face day to day financial realities. That is why the majority of Americans voted for change on November 2. (Except my below average fellow Californians.)

Well, now we must live with the fact that our POTUS and his leftist nuts have put policies in place that will kill our economy, leave debt unimaginable for our children, and bury the American dream in a heap of idealism inflicted upon our country that is surly making our founding fathers turn over in their graves.

It's time to take the keys back.

No Tax Tuesday: Where Will We Be Led?

Protestors at the Philadelphia Tea Party on Ap...Image via Wikipedia
The American people, except California, made a statement last Tuesday. Led  by the Tea Party's mobilization and articulation of the general populaces' cry for less taxation and less government intrusion was made. The question is whether or not this group of Representatives will be able to lead a massive tax reform and equally important reform of the recent expansion of government.

The biggest problem they face is the group of hard line, shall I say extremist, liberal who are either too entrenched in their ideology and or blind to the reality of the America the rest of us actually live in. I am an ordinary American citizen. I can not afford to pay more taxes. I can not afford to pay the taxes I am already paying.

I am making a call to the old guard and the newly elected Representatives; we are Taxed Enough Already, actually, too much already. If I have to cut back, people who receive entitlements have to cut back too. Make the tough calls. America needs you to help us, not tax us.

Teachers and Reform

A black and white icon of a teacher in front o...Image via Wikipedia
As a 22 year veteran of public education I have lived the tension between my union, the district, teachers and reform. I have seen the status quo, Goals 2000, No Child Left Behind, and now Race to the Top.

As an educator  I have served as a classroom teacher, categorical program advisor, intervention coordinator and administrator. As a teacher I encountered what all teachers encounter; students, parents and administrative bureaucracy. Now, each of these have an effect on each and every classroom. They also are a constant source of complaints and excuses from educators. I can not tell you how many times I have heard, "These kids," "These parents," and "These administrators." Usually some expression of exasperation related to how impossible it seems to be a successful educator under the present conditions. Personally, I learned that in public education I have no control over which children live in the area I teach, the parents that give birth to them and raise them (or not), and in my present position I have little to no influence with or over the district I work for.  So, I just do the best I can from where we are at. In that sense I find teacher evaluations a tenuous task if it does not take into consideration how little control a teacher has of outside influences that directly affect outcomes. Besides the fact that districts are famous for changing programs every seven years, which means teachers must relearn their material, which may take years to master, on an ongoing basis. Then the outcomes are changed randomly with the change of political leadership (currently and oxymoron).  The Kiss (Keep It Simple Stupid) principle is never applied to educational leadership.

I also question the idea that we just need to fire all the bad teachers. Although I do agree that some should go, I ask who would take their place? If there is an imagined line of "good" teachers waiting to take over classrooms, it is only in someones imagination, not reality. The reality is that even among good teachers not many are highly affective. In a conversation I had last week with a colleague (who I am humbled by his effectiveness) we came to an interesting perspective. I come from a church background and there is a portion of the Bible that describes some (valuable and good) leaders and being "apt" to teach, meaning they were not gifted at teaching but were able to get the point across. Many teachers are "apt" to teach, but few are gifted with a natural talent for helping others learn.

One truth that is often overlooked is that high performing students usually come from good, stable families. As I wrote earlier, teachers have no control over who enrolls at there school and little to no control over which students they get. As an aside, teaching gifted students is really an unfair benefit for a teacher to be judged by or comparison against with other teachers. Gifted and high achieving students usually already get how to learn and have learned it before you teach it.

Where is my union on all this? ...
