Cheerio Camper

When I was like 5 years old I dreamed of being able to go on going camping adventures. Mom was divorced; we lived with Granny and Grandpa. Money was tight, but love was not. My creative mind had to make do with what I had. So, I would take the empty cereal boxes and run string through the sides and make a backpack out of it. (I’m sure there are other Cheerio campers out there.)Then I would hike around the yard and set up camp. I had a great time.

This weekend my youngest son has a Cen-ten-o-ree camp out. The theme is the 100th year of scouting which is being celebrated this year. We are really excited about it. The dust should be amazing in and of itself. We choose the meal option because…I didn’t want to be a slave to the kitchen. The food will be catered by fast food giants such as Carl’s Jr., McDonald’s, and Derweinerschnitzel.

The best part, seeing my son’s smile as he proudly adorns his Cub Scout uniform. Here’s to all the parents enjoying their children and living the dream through them.

Thus saith me.

Immigration and Intimidation

The Associated Press says that a drug war brings threats to Mexico election. “One candidate was gunned down with his son inside his business.” We are also told that “Nowhere has the intimidation been worse than in the border state of Tamaulipas, where Mexican soldiers are trying to control an intensifying turf battle between the Gulf cartel and its former ally the Zetas gang.”

Why would any American want to import this (more than it already is) into our country? We don’t need any intimidation from drug gangs? We already have soft intimidation from the press to be liberal. Why do some people think we need to make it easier for people to cross our borders?

Memo to Clownderon: How is your country doing under your leadership? Close your borders and deal with it.

Welcome to the Droid Age

With the passing of my good old Treo and needed a new mobile phone. I drank the cool aid and bought a Droid by Motorola. I was tempted to wait for the Incredible but, I figured the Motorola Droid would be enough. So far, it is. It has so many apps, I've spent most of my time just trying to figure our what I might actually use

The coolest thing so far? That I can check out the old blog from my phone. I've had computers that do less! I can't wait to really figure it out.

I guess I'll even Twitter, maybe even Facebook.

My youngest son thought he was going to get one because of the buy one get one free adds on TV. I told him, his older brother already had dibs.

I guess I am an official droidkoff now.

Great phone, thus saith me.

Havana & Homophobia

OK, so there was a march in Havana where “hundreds” marched and danced in protest to world problems with homophobia.

So what?

Is there a homophobia issue in Cuba?

Where were the rest of the Cubans who usually come out in pretty big numbers to hear a Castro?

Typical socialists, nothing to do, the bread line is to long, so why not go protest something?

The only other question: was it a conga line, mambo, or a salsa?

Thus saith me.

Your welcome, thank me very much!

The dead Michael Jackson’s doctor helps woman on plane.

Good job doc. Your last two know clients: 1 dead, 1 alive.

Now, for me, I might be a bit fearful waking up to Dr. Murray standing over me with an I V. “What’s in the bag doc?” “Why does it sting?” I would be really worried if he replied, “This should make you feel better. Now just relax.”

The best part is that the first thing the woman remembered after coming to was the good doctor saying, “You probably know me…I was Michael Jackson’s doctor.” I wouldn’t be surprised to hear her that her first comments were for a second opinion and a lawyer.

Thus saith me.

Boycott Yourself, Janice

Well, big surprise, Janice Hahn calls on LA to boycott Arizona because she doesn’t agree with the immigration law Arizona has enacted. Again, I don’t know why even hope a liberal will think of the consequences of their actions. They ignore the fact that illegal is different than unwanted. I repeat, no one is saying that Arizona doesn’t want legal immigrants; although there is a time when a state and a country may not have the jobs available to support more people. Doesn’t the high unemployment rate being experienced nationwide tells us something?

Besides, Janice Hahn should probably do the right thing a make sure she takes better care of her hometown, San Pedro. Is there better real estate worth so little? There’s Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach, Palos Verde and then San Pedro. There is a reason why people who have the option to send their children to Palos Verde schools or San Pedro schools send them to Palos Verde. How have you helped with that issue Janice?

So I say boycott Janice Hahn right out of office.

Thus saith me.

Ode to my Treo

My phone is dead, no calls in or out.
I bought you used on ebay, Verizon Palm Treo in mint condition.
Your features were nice, big screen and keys Qwerty.
So long my friend, you worked well why you lasted.
“Hello can you hear me? I can’t hear you?”
The tell-tale signs of usefulness waning.

So long my friend, recycle well.

Thus saith me.
