Missed it by that (9) much

OK, so I was off by 9 on my prediction. But, the Lakers won! That darn Sasha blew my point spread. I guess it's a good thing I'm not a betting man.

Now to play the hated boys from bean-town. This is basketball. Lakers vs. celtics.

I shout out to my old friend Phil from South Carolina. We were the only two Lakers' fans at college back in the '80's when the showtime Lakers were in their heyday. I hope you are doing well and enjoying the Lakers recent success.

Lakers in 6.

Thus saith me.

GO LAKERS

It's time for the Lakers to do away with the Suns.

My suggestions for the Lakers:
  • Foul early and foul hard
  • Play mean and nasty
  • Play all 40 minutes, playing the last 3.5 hard Ron won the game for us
The Lakers by 17.

There is Intelligent Life in LA

Thank you Mike Antonovich and Don Knabe for stating the obvious in regards to the city of Los Angeles boycotting Arizona; “I don’t think it’s any of our business to tell Arizona what to do.” “Stupid.” Now it’s up to Mark Ridley Thomas to show us whether he is just another liberal parrot or an actual thinker with above average powers of reason.

Really, it is none of our business, as a city, to try to tell a state how to deal with its’ borders and the lack of federal support to maintain them. At least some city leaders in Los Angeles understand state and federal laws are not just ideas we can pick and choose to obey. If something is illegal, it is against the law. If someone is in our country illegally they should be treated as someone breaking the law, because they are breaking the law. Thank you Mike Antonovich and Don Knabe for not jumping on the politically correct but wrong bandwagon of emotionalism called immigration.

Barbra Boxer Must Go

I looked up a sight to check on the voting record of the Senator who represents me, the infamous Barbra Boxer. First, the sight is kind of goofy because the people running it think nearly every act helps the middle class.I believe I'm in the middle class and I haven't noticed any help for me.

Now how about my Senator? Let's take one vote for a sample. Barbra Boxer voted yea on the Warm in Winter Cool in Summer Act, and for this she was awarded a “thumbs up.” Of course the act actually was written to help lower income families, which are apparently termed the aspiring middle class. Who will pay for this? The actual middle class. Under the leadership of Barbra Boxer I have seen housing costs skyrocket, the cost of living rise and my taxes go up. I am the middle class! Barbra Boxer must go!

The Long Gray Line

Which was worse, President Obama’s speech or the coverage by the press? While the President said things like, “Your service is fundamental to our security back home.” He also said, according to the Associated Press, that “All hands are required to solve the world’s newest threats: terrorism, the spread of nuclear weapons, climate change and feeding and caring for a growing population.”

Wait a minute! I thought the President was addressing West Point graduates? What's all this talk about feeding and caring? I thought he was addressing soldiers not daycare workers!

You see, to me, this is another area where conservatives and democrats differ. Democrats see armies and big giant police forces or Peace Corps. Conservatives see armies as forces that go win wars by defeating enemies.

Besides that what happened to the old you can give a man a fish and feed him for a day or teach him how to fish and feed him for a lifetime wisdom our country was founded on? Conservatives seek to provide opportunities for people to be self reliant, also known as jobs. Democrats seek to create an ever dependant population.

The AP article also stated that “Bush’s my way or the high-way approach alienated some allies and damaged U.S. standing around the world.” Bush did not ruin Americas standing around the world, the left and their propaganda machine also known as the press did. Because they were so hell-bent on winning the 2008 presidential election by slamming Bush, Republicans and the USA on a daily basis they foolishly defamed our entire nation. Only fools would believe they could tie Bush and the USA together and just say, “But that was Bush and the Republicans not us.” And after they came to power the world would  just think everything is OK now that the Democrats are in power. It is the way they conduct their political campaigns. "They don't like you! They're bad, We are good!" Notice the Arizona boarder law. The issue is that the Federal government is NOT doing their job and the pressure is falling on the local populace to try and deal with it. But, “No,” they tell us,” it’s those white people who don’t like Mexican’s. They are prejudiced.” I thought an immigrant was supposed to enter America legally.

I thought armies won wars. I thought Presidents saluted the flag. I thought Presidents were proud of their country before "they" took office. I  thought a  lot of things before President Obama was elected.

Time Out! I need to load my gun!

“What are we supposed to use, harsh language?” That was a great line from the movie “Aliens.” But, apparently some current US troops in Afghanistan aren’t even able to do that. Soldiers are being ordered to patrol with a loaded magazine in weapon, bolt closed, weapon on safe, no round in the chamber.

This protocol is aimed at gaining more local support. Did anybody forget the incredibly important idea of protecting our soldiers? I think this underscores a fundamental difference in how conservatives and democrats view armies and soldiers. Conservatives believe armies should go defeat the enemy. Democrats think armies are like large police forces.

I think armies should win battles, wars, and put the fear of God Almighty in other nations (for even thinking of messing with the USA). I believe diplomats and politicians, like Presidents should seek cooperation from other nations because we would rather work with them to create a peaceful world than wipe them off the face of the earth for seeking to harm us in any way.

President Obama needs to grow up, man up and tell the world to saddle up and join us.

Cen-ten-o-ree's and tomahawks

This weekend was actually a once in a lifetime event for me and my family. My youngest son is a cub scout (Wolf) and this weekend was sort of the 100 year jamboree celebration. A few thousand scouts were at this weekends event. Normally cub scouts are not invited but because it only happens once my son was able to participate. The highlight of the weekend for my son was the tomahawk throw. He had been persistently asking for this hat with LCD lights on the brim. I told him if he hit the bulls eye I would buy it for him. To be honest, I figured it was a long shot. Sure enough, he hit it on his first try! I bought it and he forgot to wear it on the walk to the Big Show on Saturday night. Nice looking cap though.
