No Tax Tuesday: The Death of Health Care Extortion, Please!

April 2, 2006 Tornado Outbreak, O'Fallon, Illi...Image via Wikipedia
Here's the deal: if I am "required" by law to purchase insurance, then common sense would demand that insurance prices be fixed, to prevent ever increasing costs. But, since I am talking about the same people believe that taxing the life out of average citizens (under the guise of making "the rich" pay their fair share) is an "investment", I am not too hopeful that common sense will be our leaders guide. So, 26 states say no to the Health Care Extortion law. Now, a judge in Florida declares the whole thing unconstitutional!

When should, or should the government have the power to force anyone to do anything? I know the Constitution doesn't really mean much to a liberal but, what does govern their thinking process? I do not think the government should force anyone to buy anything. Think about that...what ELSE might the government decide we should have to purchase?

Is it a right of every citizen to have affordable health care? Why? Is health care a self-evident truth? If health care is a right, how much is each person equitably entitled to having? Who decides this? Why should a really wealthy person get better coverage than a less wealthy person? Why should a working class person have to pay for their families insurance and someone who does not work receive insurance coverage for free, and why should the government use the working class persons taxes to pay for the person not working?

In the end, the government elitists are finding a way to force their "progressive" ideals upon all of us. I say no thanks.

A Few Things Conservative

Republican Party Handbill, ca. 1880Image by Cornell University Library via Flickr
I am not terribly happy with the Republican party. As a conservative, I tend to vote Republican. But, I am not pleased with many politicians who call themselves Republicans. My issue is not because they the Republican Party is not left enough or more "moderate" or "center." My issue is that the Party seems to respond more to the propaganda and foolishness spewed from the left. If I wanted to be more of a liberal  or progressive (an oxymoron if there ever was one) I would simply join the Democratic party.

Let me get a few things straight. First of all as a conservative, my rights and your individual rights are of supreme importance. This country was founded on the ideal, which is equally true and meaningful today as it was in the 1700's, each person has the unalienable right to live their life without (or as little as possible) government interference.

The fruit of my labor is the fruit of my labor, not yours. The fruit of your labor is the fruit of your labor, not mine. In other words, my money is not your money and your money is not my money. Neither is our money the governments money. I do not believe that any individual or government is endowed with the wisdom and benevolence to decide who deserves what. .History has only demonstrated how evil individuals and governments are when given power. If the idea that governments were by nature helpful and just then the United States of America would not have come to be.

To me government is like a gun. A gun can be useful for certain situations, like self-defense and hunting, but in the wrong hands they can do a lot of damage. That is why an individuals rights to his or her own money is so important. Think about Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and Welfare. They all sound like nice humane ideals but, they now enslave us. And our elected officials deceive us by borrowing from the money we the people have been forced to "invest" in these scams. So, there is not actual cash, just IOU's in the form of bonds or notes, whatever.

My concern, as a conservative, is that my elected officials are playing god with my money, and your money. they don't earn it, we do. They use these programs as means to buy votes and stay in power. And what are we, as the people getting out of our so called "investments?" Debt and more taxes.

No Tax Tuesday: Yea Yea Fair Share

WALLET GRAB!Image by Pomax via Flickr
Happy No Tax Tuesday! I work with a bunch suicidal liberals who are always trying to indoctrinate me into the propagandistic left. Just yesterday my union rep (I work in education) was trying to tell me, once again, how the rich needed to pay their fair share. Of course he's not going to be happy with President Obama for agreeing with Republicans on a tax deal. Oh well, he'll get over it.

Here's the deal. The idea that the "rich" do not pay their fair share is based upon...upon what? I don't know. Simple math shows that 10% of $100,000 (= $10,000) is greater than 10% of $50,000 (= $5,000). Now if a person makes $1,000,000...that's $100,000. So, in that sense, the more you make, the more you pay.

I think the idea that fair means just as painful may be what's behind some of my liberal friends thinking. At least that is what is sounds like. I can't tell you how many times I have heard, "But the rich don't feel it as much." OK, so what is your point? Is the point of taxation to punish those who make more money than me? Does paying more percentage wise make taxation fair? The rhetoric just sounds so childish to me. So what if someone makes more money than me.

Finally, for the life of me, I can not get a liberal to give me a reasonable answer to why businesses should be taxed and taxed more. The sorry excuse for logic is always that businesses need to pay their "fair share!" Now, my liberal friends can not explain how taxing a business allows it to grow, increase wages and provide more jobs. More taxation on businesses just means more money for an ever growing, less efficient government. How is that fair? It is just foolish, not fair.

No Tax Tuesday: Teachers on the Dole

"Teacher Appreciation" featured phot...Image via Wikipedia
Happy No Tax Tuesday to you all! I started out this Tuesday edition on a thought that it would be great to give the average and non-average citizen a break by having a "No Tax Tuesday." It has no evolved into a weekly rant about taxes. I am not sure if anyone is really paying attention or agrees, but, it makes me feel better.

This week I would like to take aim at the misuse and abuse of our tax dollars by school districts. Unions and Democrats love to use the term, "saving jobs" for instance, "saving hundreds of teachers jobs." Well, how is that done?

I work at a middle school and we have two "pool teachers" at our site. That is more than $100k a year. What do these teachers do? First of all they receive a regular teachers' paycheck. They do not teach a class. They do not lower the student to teacher ratio. They do fill in for teachers who might be ill or who are attending a meeting or participating in an IEP (Individualized Education Plan) meeting.

I do not have anything personally against these people, they are just trying to make a living. But, if their is not enough students to form a class for them to teach what is their purpose? Isn't this kind of a no brainer? To put it simply if you have 90 students with a 30:1 ratio you need 3 teachers. You do not need 4. When the district holds more teachers than they need that only means that the district spending more than it should!

So, in the end, it is misused tax dollars. Teacher on the dole is an expensive form of welfare that we can not afford.

No Tax Tuesday: The Right to Pass it On

Anti-United States Internal Revenue Service sy...Image via Wikipedia
The estate tax is one the liberals love to attack with. The basic idea is that if you work your whole life, save and build, try to make a better life for your children and their children, too bad, the leftist believe they are better suited to take what you have earned and give it to someone else.

A site that calls itself "themiddleclass.org" states the lefts position as,
The estate tax, the most progressive component of the federal tax code, applies only to Americans lucky enough to inherit substantial fortunes. In fact, only 0.6% of deaths result in taxable estates. By taxing inherited wealth, the tax preserves the American tradition of rewarding hard work, not inherited privilege and wealth.
So, what does the left plan to do with this money? Redistribute it to those they deem as worthy. I am the only one who thinks that sounds more than arrogant?

Notice the con; "By taxing inherited wealth, the tax preserves the American tradition of rewarding hard work." Really? And how hard did the people who will be receiving this redistribution of wealth work? Harder than the people who earned it? I thought part of the American tradition was making life better for your children. According to the "progressives" people are wrong to try to give their children something via an inheritance and that they (the empirical left) have a right to take what someone has earned and give it to someone else.

Imagine you have save all year long to buy your children special presents, maybe a trip to Disney world. Someone comes along and says that you should not be able to do that because it is unfair to other, less fortunate children. So, they take part of your earning and  savings and give it to whom they deem as worthy. The absurdity of the logic is exactly the same as for the Estate Tax.

No Tax Tuesday: Do Taxes Help?

Gasoline taxesImage by vhhammer via Flickr
It is No Tax Tuesday and today I ask the question, "Do taxes help?" A very simple question.

Let's take gasoline taxes as an example. In California I pay almost $0.64 per gallon of taxes. So, if I put 10 gallons of gasoline in my car that is about $6.40. Many commuters easily do that once a week. We are talking about $25.00 a month in taxes for one driver. Los Angeles easily has 100,000 commuters. Let's do the math. $25.00 X 100,000 = $2,500,000.00! That's probably only a drop of the gasoline taxes Los Angeles citizens pay !

If we pay so much in taxes why are the roads full of pot holes? Why is traffic so bad? Where is all that money going? I repeat my question: Do taxes help? As I understand it, cities have to maintain their own roads. I think the state and federal government is supposed to reallocate funds to states and cities. So, we get to lobby for access to the funds our tax dollars produce. Of course, some feel that they should decide how these funds should be redistributed.  But, money stays in government off the roads.

My feeling is that for the amount of money I pay for just the gasoline tax I do not receive a fair return on my dollar. The roads are full of potholes. The CHP and local police have to chase lunatics on high speed chases who after doing great bodily harm and crashing into other cars want to sue the law enforcement agencies for use of excessive force and self-serving special interest groups will gladly help in order that they might leach off society too.

In short, taxes are not really helpful.

No Tax Tuesday: A Better Steward of Your Money

WASHINGTON - SEPTEMBER 12: Protesters march a...Image by Getty Images via @daylife
OK my fellow Americans, it's "No Tax Tuesday." My question is are you a better steward your money than the government?

I live in a nice city with a pretty decent school system and police who are bit over the top sometimes but, they do usually keep the bad guys on the other side of the (city) border. But, I am not sure if, by the looks and feel of the roads that tax dollars are utilized the best.

My state is definitely in the crapper. We used to be the fifth largest economy in the world all by ourselves. Now, I am not sure if we even have an economy. Our illustrious senators vote for the protection of smelt fish and shut down huge portions of the farming communities, thus killing a major portion of California's economy. But, we're green! The alleged senator is now running a smear campaign against Carly Fiorina accusing her of outsourcing jobs to other countries. What is the number of jobs lost in California under the Boxer, Pelosi, Harman and Democratic majority reign?

My country? We have been "simulized" into a general stupor of confusion. The Democrats want to spend  more of  our money and tax us more to get that money. Both the Democrats and Republicans already  in Washington have their "solutions" which will only put us more in debt and enslave our children more. So far el presidente Obama has usurped control of 1/6 of the economy by his health careless takeover and who knows what evil lurks behind the unread pages of the financial reform package.

My question was: Who is a better steward of my/your money? When Senators are voting for bills they haven't even read, when a President is pushing through a bill without informing the public, or the Senators what is truly in it, then we have not just irresponsible leadership but dishonest and deceptive leadership. It is time for them to go.

No Tax Tuesday: What don't they tax?

I was checking over some bills again today and making sure I had them correctly entered in my bill pay account with my bank. I noticed again how many little things get taxed. Even my electricity. I live in an all electric complex so that is my only source of power.

The Bostonians Paying the Excise ManImage via Wikipedia
Why should we be taxed on standard necessary items such as electricity, gas and water? For a government to tax it's people on things that people can not realistically do without is nothing short of oppressive!

To tax us on items we must us means when I purchase something I must have to keep my family warm or cool and fed the government is charging us every time we provide for our families.

Yes, I know we are not supposed to be taxed for food. But, beware, when the government intrudes upon us by seeking to legislate how much salt is in our food it will not belong that they will seek to pay to the salt csar or salt police with funds directly from food.

Finally, what is the government doing with the money they already have? Is the worlds largest bueracrocy know for fiscal control and getting the most bang for our bucks? The answer to that is a "gimme." I work for the second largest school district in the nation. Waste, mismanagement, poor financial choices, political placement  of administrative positions, all marks of a government bureaucracy that demonstrate waste.

The government does not need or deserve more money. I agree with the tea party, we  are "Taxed Enough Already!"

NoTax Tuesday: They tax My Coffee, They Tax My Tea...

Description: Coffee cortado (An latte art exam...Image via Wikipedia
They tax my coffee
They tax my tea
They tax my baby
They tax me.
I make, they take.

They say my money is their to take
To redistribute for those they hate.
"Let's tax the wealthy!" they always say,
But it's my money that doesn't stay.

Giving money to banks to play
To car makers not intending to pay.
The goods and services are green they say,
Which means more money I will pay,
for goods and services
that do not last a day.

Ah, enough of the bashing you will say,
Listen to the President, to what he say.
"Have hope, my dope, it will be OK,
'Cuz I'm the President, that's what I say!"

So, they'll tax my coffe
They'll tax my tea
They'll tax my baby
And they'll tax me.
I'll vote in November
and any time between
To rid this country of this vile scene.
