Flush 'em Friday: The 5 27 11 Edition

Welcome to Flush 'em Friday, the 5 27 11 Edition.
Let's get to it with the people, things or whatever might be that annoys, bothers, and/or makes me wait longer than I want to.

Below is this weeks list of flushees:

• Poodles and chihuahuas for being pretentiousness and neurotic extensions of their owners.
• People who own poodles and chihuahuas for being pretentious and neurotic enough to own at least one and be seen in public with walking or holding one. (Several other small but otherwise useless breeds may be included)
• Women who are over 40 and shop at Forever 21. You not. Act your age. 
• Barney Frank for being such a cotton-headed ninny muffin (see Elf: useless elf)
• Janice Hahn for having such novel ideas as taxing pot distributors...
• Teacher's Unions for wanting to "save jobs" rather than create job creators...
•  People who take up two parking spaces...

Which came first, the chicken or the house?

I've been seeing these annoying commercials about, of all things, the housing market. The apparent point is that the housing market creates jobs. OK, so I should now go buy a recently built home? This is almost a classic which came first, the chicken or the egg question. But, not really. 

First of all,  I don't think that building new homes creates jobs. On the other hand, I do believe that jobs provide the funds for people to purchase homes, even newly built homes. So, unless the housing market is being subsidized, which would be a really stupid idea, there needs to be a need for new homes and capital to purchase the homes in  order for them to be built. There may be a need, but, without jobs to provide funds for people to make the payments on the mortgages it is just another financial disaster waiting to happen.  Speculators may build homes in the hopes (speculation) that people will buy them. True, a few carpenters will work to build them, but those are temporary jobs, not sustainable stay in one place jobs. 

Now, why are these "commercials" being broadcast on a daily basis? Is it because I need to be convinced that housing creates jobs? It sounds a bit like propaganda to me. That makes me very leery of the people who are putting these adds out. Now, if the beef council puts out an add about "Beef, it's whats for dinner." I know it is because people in the beef industry want me to buy more beef. But I am not going to buy a house unless I need one (I do) and the price of homes in my area are right (they are not, they are still over valued). So, why do we have these "adds"? I hope we don't see another "stimulus" package on the horizon.

No Tax Tuesday: Hahn vs. Huey or She'll tax, He'll tax me not 5 24 11 Edition

Well California are you tired of the likes of Janice Hahn yet? Are you fed up with the fantasy that you can spend your way to prosperity policies of our current government?


On July 12th we have a opportunity to radically shift the power and policies of the people that are extorting our lives work away on empty promises, also known as the Democratic Party.


We have Janice Hahn who has done little to nothing to help her home town of San Pedro to grow. She has led the way with innovative ideas like taxing pot dispensaries. Even if she did pull it off how much tax revenue would that really create? Most of the pot is sold on the streets of her hometown in the "non-taxed" marketplace.


The following is a little blurb from CBS 8 in San Diego:

Craig's commonsense approach is at odds with the fantasy economics of Janice Hahn.

Hahn = Higher taxes, hurts the economy	Huey = Lower taxes, creates an economic boom
Hahn = More debt, destroys the economy	Huey = No debt, creates economic growth
Hahn = More govt. policies, destroys jobs	Huey = Economic stability, creates jobs
Hahn = More govt. spending, raises prices	Huey = Control spending, lowers prices

On July 12th there will be a clear difference Craig Huey and Janice Hahn. Janice Hahn like Jerry Brown only knows how to create taxes, not jobs. Craig Huey knows how to create jobs, not taxes.  

California, you make the call. 

Hey, Israel, just give back the land...really?

President Obama has called for peace via a return to the pre-1967 borders for Israel and it's "neighbors". 

That's the great thinkers big idea? So, I can see it now President Obama, the peace-maker, says to Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, "Hey! Why don't you just let your sworn enemies move closer to you? It will be great! I think it will make them stop wanting to destroy Israel."

This is the great thinkers great idea? Are you kidding me!? Great thinker my...

Speaking of land for peace, wasn't that what Hitler called for at the beginning of WWII? Great minds think alike.

I am astounded by both the arrogance and the ignorance of President Obama. The arrogance that he might actually think he can talk Israel into giving back land. Well, it is actually more than land it is strategic position. I know BO loves to think of himself as audacious, and the thought that he can broker a peace in the middle east is nothing short of that. The ignorance that fails to recognize that no one can change the reality that Palestinian beliefs do not allow for an Israeli existence.  No matter how much land you give Palestine, Palestine will not be satisfied without the annihilation of the state of Israel. 


I would suggest that the President's plan is like suggesting that the U.S.A. return to the pre1845 American-Mexico borders to solve the immigration and drug problem, but,  since I live in SoCal I don't want to risk ending up living in TJ Norte.

This is good news to me! Hahn is career family politician. She has done little to nothing to help her home town San Pedro. I can't wait to write more about her career ineptness.

No Tax Tuesday 5 17 11 Edition J Brown Playing for Keeps

Happy No Tax Tuesday, the 5 17 11 Edition.

OK, so California gets some good news, that the state is projected to receive $6.6 billion more than expected in tax revenues, mostly from capital gains tax collections, on "the rich." Apparently, the rich are making more money than anticipated and thus paying more taxes than anticipated, so California Governor Jerry Brown and his Democrats ask why not tax them some more?

GOP lawmakers are asking why we need five more years of new taxes?

You see, the problem with Democrats is they can never see that tax revenues can rise without tax increases. If I make more money this year than last year, I will pay more taxes this year than last year. It really is simple math. Even even 6% of $200 (=$12) is more than 10% of $100 (=$10). So, the smart goal would be to find a way to allow businesses to pay their employees more rather than taxing people more.

Back to "the rich" making more money than expected. If a business owner made $1 million last year and then makes $2 million this year, they would automatically at the same tax rate pay twice as much in taxes. Everybody wins! Let it be Jerry.

To make a long post short, I do not think Californians need to pay more taxes or even more of the same taxes, increasing taxes just raises prices.  Have you noticed the price of eating out rising? How about at the supermarket or gas pump? Higher taxes + rising cost of living = lower standard of living. No thanks.
