No Tax Tuesday 5 17 11 Edition J Brown Playing for Keeps

National Protest - Need Before GreedImage by infomatique via Flickr
Happy No Tax Tuesday, the 5 17 11 Edition.

OK, so California gets some good news, that the state is projected to receive $6.6 billion more than expected in tax revenues, mostly from capital gains tax collections, on "the rich." Apparently, the rich are making more money than anticipated and thus paying more taxes than anticipated, so California Governor Jerry Brown and his Democrats ask why not tax them some more?

GOP lawmakers are asking why we need five more years of new taxes?

You see, the problem with Democrats is they can never see that tax revenues can rise without tax increases. If I make more money this year than last year, I will pay more taxes this year than last year. It really is simple math. Even even 6% of $200 (=$12) is more than 10% of $100 (=$10). So, the smart goal would be to find a way to allow businesses to pay their employees more rather than taxing people more.

Back to "the rich" making more money than expected. If a business owner made $1 million last year and then makes $2 million this year, they would automatically at the same tax rate pay twice as much in taxes. Everybody wins! Let it be Jerry.

To make a long post short, I do not think Californians need to pay more taxes or even more of the same taxes, increasing taxes just raises prices.  Have you noticed the price of eating out rising? How about at the supermarket or gas pump? Higher taxes + rising cost of living = lower standard of living. No thanks.
NO MORE TAXES!

PTVoice's Loose Cannon Fire 4 30 11

Shrapnel types US archivesImage via Wikipedia
Just a little shrapnel from reading the fish-wrap and blogs....

How about the unions? Why isn't la Times asking about union donations?
Flaming hypocrites...

I'm all for not leaving a mess and I don't like smog, but, the arrogance of these people who thing "they" can change the climate? They can't even change their mind.

Tax the rich? Can't you come up with a better line than that?
I am not rich, but, you can only tax "the rich" so much, which we do. Plus, in the end it is the working class that get hit the hardest by taxes.
If there is no money, or not enough money, even union workers need to realize that adjustment should be made. I belong to a union so, I get it. The unions should be demanding that cuts made transparently and appropriately.

No Tax Tuesday 4 12 11 Edition

NO (no) TAXImage by jasoneppink via Flickr
Hello and Happy No Tax Tuesday!

Message to California Governor Jerry Brown: No.

I  can not pay any more taxes. I do not want to pay anymore taxes. I do not see any reason to pay any more taxes.

To the contrary, I want less taxation. I want to pay less taxes. I do not see any reason that my taxes should not be lowered. Yes, Governor Brown, I hear you blathering nonsense about there being no other way to "fix" the budget, but, it sounds like the same old tune where I (the tax payer) gets the shaft and you the "leader" just passes the buck of responsibility of  decision making on to the tax payer. Horrible leadership.

Where does all the money go right now? Every time I fill up my car with gasoline I notice that a huge percentage of the per-gallon cost is taxes! Where is that money going? What is the state government doing with the tax revenue it extracts from  the tax paying working class?

In short, I do not want to pay more taxes, I want the government to what I am doing and what they would be forcing me to do: make do with less, do more with less, live below your means.

NO MORE TAXES.
