The United States of America or The Americas

The other day I read a comment to a article in my local newspaper about immigration deform, opps I mean immigration reform. Well, at first I just sort of shrugged it off as another post by someone geographically challenged. But, the more I thought about it, the more it sort of irritated me.

What my geographically challenged neighbor had said (in a "nut" shell) was that Mexico was part of the Americas too. You know that great country called "The Americas." This was of course his argument to why people crossing the border should be allowed to cross at will.

As an educator for the past 21 years in the Southern California area I have a few observations that may shed some light on the struggle for some people to understand why illegal is not legal and why open  borders are like none barred windows in South Central LA. 

First, I have always been aware that many students are not taught, by my fellow educators, geography. Frighteningly, by shear ignorance many grow up not knowing how many states there are, what continent we live on and what other countries are around the USA. 

Second, there has been something called "multiculturalism" taught in most schools, especially in Southern California. The whole idea is to respect other cultures and allow students to feel like their culture has value and that stuff. My observation: we have created "culturally aware" illiterates. 

Third, when the young impressionable minds get to high school they are bombarded by revisionist teachers who teach their version of US History. When the young mind is hit with this lethal combo of multiculturalism and  usually socialist revisionist crap they grow up thinking that America is the great evil and since people have "migrating" back and forth across the border for centuries borders and not real.

The truth is Canada borders the United States of America to the north (on the continent) and Mexico to the south. Mexico is a separate sovereign country. Mexico did not want the southwest. When the governor of   California asked Mexico if they wanted to govern California, Mexico said no.

There is a border. Mexico has northern and southern borders. Illegal is not legal no matter if one is ignorant or not.

Message to all Mexicans and Latinos: You are Republican, vote Republican

Every Mexican and Central American I have ever known is at heart a Republican until some Democrat tells them they are a Democrat.

What do Republicans believe in that all immigrants believe in? The Republican ideals of working hard and keeping most of your own money to choose to use as you decide and family values are intimately woven into the beliefs of Mexican and Latino immigrants.  For example, many Latinos are, at least, cultural Catholics and the Catholic Church’s stand against abortion is not a pillar of the Democrats but of the Republicans.

Listen, Republicans say, “Come, work hard, and create a better life for you and your family. Choose for yourself how to provide for your family. Choose for yourself how to run your family.

So, I suggest you stop listening to people who actually do not believe you are smart enough to understand the issues, so they use school-yard tactics, “Those Republicans hate Mexicans! They are keeping you down!” to control you. You can understand the issues. You know what is best for you and your families. You deserve to keep the majority of your paycheck to decide to use as you see fit. Vote Republican, it’s your choice, your money, and your family.

That’s what I say, what do you say?

There is Intelligent Life in LA

Thank you Mike Antonovich and Don Knabe for stating the obvious in regards to the city of Los Angeles boycotting Arizona; “I don’t think it’s any of our business to tell Arizona what to do.” “Stupid.” Now it’s up to Mark Ridley Thomas to show us whether he is just another liberal parrot or an actual thinker with above average powers of reason.

Really, it is none of our business, as a city, to try to tell a state how to deal with its’ borders and the lack of federal support to maintain them. At least some city leaders in Los Angeles understand state and federal laws are not just ideas we can pick and choose to obey. If something is illegal, it is against the law. If someone is in our country illegally they should be treated as someone breaking the law, because they are breaking the law. Thank you Mike Antonovich and Don Knabe for not jumping on the politically correct but wrong bandwagon of emotionalism called immigration.

Immigration and Intimidation

The Associated Press says that a drug war brings threats to Mexico election. “One candidate was gunned down with his son inside his business.” We are also told that “Nowhere has the intimidation been worse than in the border state of Tamaulipas, where Mexican soldiers are trying to control an intensifying turf battle between the Gulf cartel and its former ally the Zetas gang.”

Why would any American want to import this (more than it already is) into our country? We don’t need any intimidation from drug gangs? We already have soft intimidation from the press to be liberal. Why do some people think we need to make it easier for people to cross our borders?

Memo to Clownderon: How is your country doing under your leadership? Close your borders and deal with it.

Immigration Problem Solved

Last Saturday “thousands” of people rallied in support of swift immigration reform. According to the Associated Press, Rep. Luis Gutierrez, D-Ill. Introduced immigration reform legislation that includes the path to legal status for millions of illegal immigrants.

First, isn’t there already a path for legal immigration? So, should not the path for ALL be legal immigration? The first step is to cease being illegal immigrants and then talk to us about becoming a legal immigrant.

You see, Luis, most of us Americans are children or decedents of legal immigrants. We did it legally, why can’t they? That is why so many Americans have a hard time swallowing this pathway for illegal immigrants crap.

Second, I believe in a speech the then President of Mexico Vicente Fox described it as migration while US President Bush called it immigration. So, we must realize someone said people migrated back and forth from baja to California for “hundreds” of years and many people buy that as a reason for granting whoever wants to walk across the border a free pass. Am I supposed think people from Mexico or Central America are so stupid and illiterate that they don’t know it’s the twenty-first century!? That they don’t know what that big metal or cement thing is?

Reform? Just be legal. Problem solved!
